Photocopying could be what you need to economically gain more business

Usually the question is "should I photocopy or should I print" a quantity of documents? The short answer to that rests with the equipment to be used and the quantity required.

The best person to tell you is your printer. Many printers can do either, so it depends on the complexity of the document, the quantity required, and whether the copies are to be black and white or colour. Each option will determine at what point it becomes more economical to print rather than photocopy.

This could be a situation where it may be a good idea to print an economical quantity of the basic document first, and then follow up with photocopying a small quantity of that printing with a specific message or marketing promotion.

What can I photocopy that will help my business?

Generally, you can photocopy documents that are not considered 'front line papers'… meaning that the recipient will not be offended or think badly of you if what they receive is obviously a quick copy and not an original document. It is never good in a business sense to send out scruffy copies-of-copies to any customer or client. Makes it look as if you are going broke or just don't care!

On the other hand, a quality photocopied document that is well designed and produced, will also be well received as a professional business communication.

The development of photocopiers over the years has been such that current machines can easily and very quickly produce single sided copies, double sided copies, and even booklets and small books duly stitched or stapled. This is ideal for small catalogues, instruction booklets, self published information and similar projects.

If you require something more complicated than that, but which still does not make economical sense to print, you may like to consider digital printing. The added advantage with digital printing is that not only is it high quality black and white or colour, but because the printer is computer driven you can arrange to have each individual copy printed to include a different name, for example. You then have an extremely personalised set of documents as a result.
